TOTO Drake Toilet Review

TOTO DRAKE TWO-PIECE ADA TOILET WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Drake Toilet ReviewThis budget-friendly, 2-piece unit is one of TOTO’s more popular models due to its simple and efficient design.

DESIGN

Made from Vitreous china, the Toto Drake has a classical, yet simple design. Its elongated bowl is suitable for bathrooms with a medium sized floor area, to maximize available space.

Its high tank profile means a more efficient use of water and also a more efficient use of space in small bathrooms.

The flusher handle can be placed on left or right sides, which complies with ADA Standards. The Drake is a great TOTO toilet, however it is a two-piece which means it will be tougher to clean compared to a one-piece toilet.

It is available in a variety of different colors, such as Bone, Colonial White, Cotton White, Ebony and Sedonia Beige.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

This unit uses a G-Max flushing system and has a low consumption of 1.6 Gallons per flush. This compares very well to standard toilets that use 3.5 gallons per flush (GPF).

Though quiet, the Drake 2-Piece ADA Toilet is powerful and has a commercially graded flushing performance. This flushing system includes angled nozzles and 3-Inch wide flush valves (125% larger than conventional 2-Inch flush valves).

The flushing system combines power with a low volume of water, to give an excellent cleaning performance.

INSTALLATION

The Toto Drake 2-piece ADA unit uses a standard 12” rough in from the finished wall to the center of the waste pipe.  A valuable feature of this TOTO toilet model is that it is one of the few that comes complete with all parts necessary for full installation.

However, the toilet seat must be purchased separately.  The actual installation is relatively simple and you should be able to install it yourself.

PROS:

  • Water-Saving
  • Budget-friendly with its Affordable Price
  • Powerful Flushing System
  • Universal Seat Height
  • ADA Compliant

CONS:

  • Tougher to Clean due to its 2-piece design
  • Possible leaks from bolts and gaskets if improperly used
  • Only One-Year Warranty

OVERALL

The Drake 2-Piece ADA Toilet is a popular choice for Amazon customers and is a best seller at the time of writing.  Toto toilets are known to produce quality toilets at affordable prices and this unit is no different.  If you are a looking for a 2-Piece toilet with a superb flush performance, then this unit is worth considering. TOTO DRAKE TWO-PIECE ADA TOILET

TOTO Ultramax II Toilet Review

TOTO ULTRAMAX II ONE-PIECE WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Ultramax II Toilet ReviewThe Ultramax II is one of TOTO’s more popular one-piece toilets. The difference between the Ultramax II and the Drake above is that this is a one-piece toilet and has less water consumption. Lets have a closer look at this unit to see why it is so popular.

DESIGN

Just like the Drake, this unit is made from vitreous china. The Ultramax II is also ADA Compliant, due to its Universal Height seating. The Universal Height seat allows it to accommodate a wide range of users per household.

The unit’s one-piece, sleek design makes for not only a beautiful appearance but also easier cleaning. Also, all one-piece toilets, including this unit, are leak-proof compared to two-piece toilets (no water leaks from bolts and gaskets).

The Ultramax II has an elongated bowl but is still compact enough to suit bathrooms with a smaller floor area.  Its CEFIONTECT glaze or SanaGloss finish gives the toilet bowl a smooth quality that prevents build up of particles and bacterial growth within the toilet bowl and its ceramics.

The SoftClose Seat is included with this unit, however Cotton White is the only color choice.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

This unit is a member of the Water-Saving toilets club. The Ultramax II has a low Water Consumption, averaging 1.28 Gallons per Flush (GPF). This is excellent even compared to the Drake (1.6 GPF), and due to its low Water Consumption, it is WaterSense certified.

All toilets that are WaterSense certified are subject for rebates in multiple locations in the US.

For its flushing mechanism, the unit uses the powerful Tornado Flush System. Also, the Ultramax II has a hole-free rim design with dual-nozzles that create a centrifugal washing action. This washing action assists in rinsing the toilet bowl more efficiently.

INSTALLATION

The Ultramax II unit uses a standard 12” rough in from the finished wall to the center of the waste pipe. Being a single piece toilet, the Ultramax II weighs more than that of a two-piece toilet. This extra weight can cause additional difficulty when connecting the toilet to the waste pipe. However,  installation is very similar to that of other toilets.

PROS:

CONS:

  • More Expensive than the Drake
  • Heavier than 2-piece toilets
  • Requires more caution in installation
  • Only One-Year Warranty

OVERALL

The UltraMax II is ADA compliant and meets the standards for EPA Water Sense, and California’s CEC and CALGreen requirements, making it pretty useful and recognized by different Environmental Groups. If you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing and eco-friendly unit, then this TOTO toilet is for you.

Aside from that, this unit features a SoftClose seat that prevents “Toilet Seat Slam”, letting you do your toilet necessities conveniently and comfortably.  Follow the link for a more detailed TOTO Ultramax II review.

TOTO Aquia Wall-Hung Dual Flush Toilet

TOTO AQUIA WALL-HUNG DUAL-FLUSH TOILET WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Wall-Hung Toilet ReviewThe TOTO Aquia Wall-Hung Dual-Flush Toilet has a wall mounted design and is a very popular choice for people with smaller bathrooms.

What makes it great compared to other toilets is the ability to control how much water is used per flush.  You can choose between 0.9 GPF or 1.60 GPF (both are low volumes for Water Consumption).

The Aquia is made with CEFIONTECT glaze that prevents bacterial growth and particle build ups, making it easier to clean and maintain.  If you are looking for a sleek and contemporary toilet, then look no further than the Aquia.

DESIGN

Made of Ceramics, the Aquia Wall-Hung Dual-Flush Toilet is sleek and beautifully designed. It is a great space saver and very pleasing to look at also. Its toilet bowl is elongated, providing more seating space for the user, however because it is mounted to the wall, it won’t take up too much space.

Since it is tankless, unlike a standard toilet, we suggest you have an in-wall tank system installed prior to purchasing this toilet.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

One of the Aquia’s advantages is its Low Water Consumption and capability to use different water volumes. Its Dual Max Flush System gives you a choice of either 0.9 GPF or 1.6 GPF. The flushing system cleans the inner surface by removing solid waste very effectively, making this TOTO toilet not only good for water conservation but very powerful as well.

Its tank uses an in-wall system, therefore tank preparation is necessary before installing this unit. This unit, could be paired with a Toto in-wall tank system or with other brands. The Toto Aquia is both CalGreen Compliant and Eco-Friendly.

INSTALLATION

The Aquia is a wall-mounted TOTO toilet, therefore requires a different installation process compared to other models. If installed correctly, its space saving properties will be a big asset and it will be very easy to maintain and clean.

PROS:

  • Sleek Design
  • Space Saver
  • In-wall tanks can be from Toto or other brands
  • Efficient Flushing System
  • California CALGreen Compliant
  • CEFIONTECT glaze applied for bacterial growth prevention
  • Relatively easy to maintain and clean

CONS:

  • Installation is more difficult than one and two-piece toilets
  • Needs to be paired with in-wall tank for flushing
  • Other toilet parts are sold separately
  • Only One-Year Warranty

OVERALL

Toto’s Aquia has a sleek design, in-wall tank feature, space-saving capacity and applied technology for Efficient and Effective Flushing System (Dual Max).

Its Low Water Level Consumption (CALGreen Compliant) and Prevention of Bacterial Growth (CEFIONTECT Glaze), makes it a benchmark for modern toilets.

The unit is a little bit more difficult to install compared to a one and two-piece, however at the end of the day, we believe it is worth the effort.  Check out the Toto Aquia Wall-Hung Toilet full review here.

TOTO Vespin II Toilet Review

TOTO VESPIN II TWO-PIECE TOILET WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Vespin II Toilet ReviewThe Toto Vespin II Model showcases a strong Double Cyclone Flushing System with very low water consumption per flush. Its skirted design creates an image of stability and power.

Also, the toilet’s Universal Height seating and CEFIONTECT glaze for the prevention of bacterial growth, makes for a comfortable and sanitised toilet experience.

DESIGN

Toto’s Vespin II is made of ceramic and has a skirted base.  Its high tank profile is impressive. Also it has an elongated shape, so may be more suitable for larger bathrooms.

Moreover, this unit is one of Toto’s heaviest models due to its base. The unit’s SanaGloss (CEFIONTECT) ceramic glaze aids in preventing particle growth on its ceramic surfaces, resulting in an easier to maintain toilet and less water needed for cleaning.  This unit is only available in a Cotton White color.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

One of the Vespin II’s advantages is its low water consumption. Its Dual Cyclone Flushing System (the Tornado Flush System) consumes only 1.28 GPF. This system is highly powerful and efficient, as it uses 2 water jets for every flush.

Due to its low water consumption and efficient flushing system, the Vespin II is credited by EPA WaterSense as a highly-efficient toilet (HET), giving you the opportunity to have a big rebate on your water bill (depending where you live).

INSTALLATION

The unit’s 12” rough in allows for an easy installation.  However, there is an optional 10” or 14” rough in if needed.

PROS:

  • Chrome tip lever
  • Clean-looking skirted base
  • SanaGloss-glazed ceramics for prevention of bacterial growth (CEFIONTECT)
  • Low water volume consumption
  • Double cyclone flushing system
  • Eco-friendly
  • ADA compliant & EPA WaterSense compliant

CONS:

  • More expensive
  • Heavier than other toilets
  • Reported occasional back splashes during its flush

The Toto Vespin II is highly regarded due to its ADA compliance and certification from Water Sense.  Although it is higher in price, it is still good value because rebates can be applied (being certified by WaterSense).

With its skirted design, powerful flushing system and efficient water consumption, the Vespin II is definitely good for modern households that invest in eco-friendly fixtures and are keen on environment conservation.  If would like to know more about the Toto Vespin II, then read the full review here.

TOTO Promenade II Toilet Review

TOTO PROMENADE II ONE-PIECE TOILET WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Promenade II Toilet ReviewOne reason TOTO is such a popular brand is due to its huge range of quality toilets to choose from and the Promenade II is certainly one of them. Using the G-Max Flushing System with low water consumption, the Promenade II is efficient and eco-friendly.

With its unique high tank design and chrome plated lever, it really has a classy, stylish look to it.  Moreover, this unit is ADA Compliant and has CEFIONTECT glaze for its smooth ceramic bowl – essential for preventing the flourishing of bacteria and molds.

DESIGN

The Promenade II is a one-piece toilet and elongated bowl design.  A bigger toilet bowl means better seat space, however a bigger toilet also equates to a larger footprint in your bathroom. This unit is fine for the typical household, as long as the bathroom is spacious enough to accommodate.

Its high tank and chrome flush lever has a classical and simple design that gives you a sense of nostalgia on how toilets looked like years ago.  Also, due to its Universal height seating, ADA has accredited this unit for passing its standards, especially for the public and disabled people.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

One of the Promenade II’s best qualities is its quiet flush and refill while still maintaining its powerful system. The unit consumes 1.6 Gallons per Flush and applies the G-Max Flushing System.

The Promenade II uses more water compared with Toto’s Aquia or Vespin II, but its flushing system is quieter than the two previously featured TOTO toilets, making it quieter, cleaner and easier to maintain.

INSTALLATION

The Promenade II has a 12″ rough-in, so should be suitable for most bathrooms. Anyone who has experience with plumbing or even do-it-yourself installation can perform this task without any hesitation.

PROS:

  • Universal height – comfortable sitting height
  • One Piece Toilet – easier to maintain and clean
  • Classical high tank and chrome flush lever
  • Uses G-Max flushing system
  • Flushes quietly compared to other Toto units
  • Equipped with CEFIONTECT glaze for microbial protection
  • ADA compliant

TOTO PROMENADE II One-Piece Toilet

TOTO Entrada Toilet Review

TOTO ENTRADA TWO-PIECE TOILET WITH ELONGATED BOWL

TOTO Entrada Toilet ReviewThe TOTO Entrada is a modern, clean two-piece toilet with an elongated bowl.  What makes this TOTO toilet quite popular is due to its low cost compare to more premium TOTO models.

It may be a cheaper TOTO toilet model, however it is still a great choice. Not only does its flushing system work very efficiently, consuming a maximum of 1.28 GPF, but it also flushes very quietly.

Its Universal Height seating gives comfort for a  broader range of people and its small tank gives a more compact appearance. Moreover, this is one of TOTO’s lighter toilets, making the Entrada attractive, efficient and easier to install.

DESIGN

The Entrada’s design gives it a slim yet modern look.  This unit is suitable for houses with considerably small bathrooms and will maximize the space, save money while avoiding any sacrifice on its quality and efficiency.  Its chrome tip lever is located on its left side.

Entrada is one of TOTO’s lightweight models, making it easier to lift and install.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

The Entrada only consumes 1.28 GPF, making it eco-friendly and water conservation approved.  This TOTO toilet may use a low volume of water, however it retains its quality for cleaning the toilet bowl after every use.

The Entrada uses the E-Max Flushing System, another one of TOTO’s wonderful flushing techniques, making the unit flush quietly, similar to the Promenade II. The E-Max Flushing system proves Toto’s reputation for high quality performance, while offering a water saving of up to 20% compared to 1.6 GPF toilets.

Its wide 3″ flush valve allows an efficient, consistent and powerful flush. Also, the large 2 1/8″ trapway has been glazed to make waste removal extremely easy.

Apart from this, the pilot-operated valve is the main reason why Entrada has its silent operation and a clean shutoff on any given water pressure. To end the process, its power Siphon Jet pulls the waste off to the sewage.

If you are looking for a silent flush, then this E-max Flushing system is definitely a good choice.

INSTALLATION

Due to its lighter weight and smaller size, the TOTO Entrada is one of the easiest units to install. Its small dimensions allow a quicker installation and can be performed by anyone that has a little bit of DIY experience.

PROS:

  • Lightweight model & Universal height
  • Small tank and chrome flush lever
  • Consumes low water volume per flush
  • E-Max Flushing System
  • Flushes very quietly compared to other TOTO units
  • One of TOTO’s most budget-friendly models
  • ADA Compliant

CONS:

  • Harder to clean
  • May leak as this is a two-piece toilet

OVERALL

TOTO’s Entrada is very popular because of 3 things- its budget-friendly price, its low water consumption and its quiet flushing system. The Entrada’s smaller dimensions, compared with the Drake, Ultramax II or Promenade II, makes it easier to set up and install.

The quality of toilet is not sacrificed just because of its size but this should be regarded as standard for TOTO toilets and the challenge is for its quality to be surpassed by other competitor’s “standard toilets” out in the global market.

TOTO ENTRADA TWO-PIECE TOILET
TOTO Drake Round Toilet Review

TOTO DRAKE TWO-PIECE INSULATED TOILET WITH ROUND BOWL

TOTO Drake Round Bowl Toilet ReviewThis is one of TOTO’s traditional two-piece toilets with round bowl, however this model is one of a kind, due to its quiet and commercial grade flushing.

This unit comes with a high profile design and computer-designed fully glazed trapway. With only 1.6 Gallons per Flush, this round bowl toilet is excellent at conserving water.

DESIGN

The Drake toilet is made of Ceramics and its open-front shape and high profile design, will look great in any modern bathroom. The unit’s chrome lever is comfortably placed at left side of the tank.

Due to its design and bigger dimensions, this unit is heavier compared to the Entrada, however it is still similar in size to a standard toilet.  Of course, as this is a round bowl model, it will be ideal for small bathrooms.

It does come in a number of different colors to choose from: White, Colonial White, Bone, Ebony or Sedona Beige.

WATER CONSUMPTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM

With a larger water surface and computer-designed fully glazed trapway, this TOTO toilet has a surprisingly quiet flush. The powerful G-Max Flushing System produces a commercial grade flush and due to its siphon jet technology the flush is quiet, fast and efficient.

TOTO NEOREST DUAL FLUSH TOILET
TOTO Carlyle II Toilet Review

TOTO CARLYLE II ONE-PIECE TOILET

TOTO Carlyle II Toilet ReviewThe Carlyle II is a one-piece toilet that is quite similar to the Ultramax II.  It has a similar design however there is one main difference.  Lets have a look to see how what it is.

DESIGN

The Ultramax II is one of TOTO’s more popular models and it is easy to see why.  It is powerful, efficient and looks great.  The Carlyle II has a similar design, however the main difference is that the Carlyle II has a smooth skirted design.

The Ultramax II has a trapway design on the side of the bowl.  Both toilets look great, however the smooth skirted design will be easier to clean and this is why I prefer the Carlyle II.

Just like the Ultramax II, the Carlyle II is a Comfort Height toilet and is ADA Compliant.  It measures over 17″ from floor to seat, making it suitable for a wide range of users.

It is an elongated toilet and will come with a toilet seat included.  Not every toilet comes with a toilet seat and sometimes they can be a bit flimsy.   However, this one is a soft close lid, so it is a pretty good one.  No more slamming and no more pinching of fingers.

One other feature worth noting is that this model has a slanting down tank lid.  Not a big deal, however if you like to place items on top of your toilet tank, then you won’t be able to on this model.

FLUSHING SYSTEM

The Carlyle II uses TOTO’s Tornado Flush System.  What I like about this system is that it has a rimless bowl.  Many toilets have a rim that drops water straight down into the bowl, after each flush.  The rim will certainly accumulate a lot of dirt and grime, so the rimless design is great.

The rim has two holes, and when the toilet is flushed, water gushes out of these holes.  This action creates a tornado flush style that will powerfully clear and clean the whole of the bowl.

Not only is the Carlyle II powerful and effective but it is also efficient.  It uses 1.28 GPF and is WaterSense Certified.

A WaterSense Certified toilet is eco-friendly and will save you some money on water bills.  In certain states your toilet has to be WaterSense Certified and you may also qualify for a water rebate.

INSTALLATION

As stated earlier, this model is a one-piece toilet.  One-piece toilets weigh more than two separate pieces, therefore they may be a little harder to install.  This toilet will weigh over 100 lbs and will need to be lifted into place.  If you can handle that, then the rest of the installation process should be easier.

Make sure to check out some video demonstrations to see if you are capable of installing the unit yourself.  Plumber’s fees are expensive, so if you can avoid hiring a professional, then you will save yourself a lot of money.

PROS:

  • Smooth Skirted Design
  • Soft Close Toilet Seat
  • Powerful Tornado Flush System
  • Universal Seat Height
  • ADA Compliant, EPA Water Sense Compliant & California CALGreen Compliant
  • Easier to Clean and Not Prone to Bolt and Gasket Leaks

CONS:

  • More Expensive than Some Other Models
  • Heavier than 2-piece toilets
  • Requires more caution in installation

OVERALL

Overall, the Carlyle II is a great looking toilet and is very similar to the Ultramax II.  Either one would be a great choice, however if you like the smooth skirted design of the Carlyle II, then this model will suit you better.  It will be easier to clean and maintain and it also looks great.

The Carlyle II is a WaterSense Certified and ADA Compliant toilet and is powerful, effective and efficient.   If you like the look of this model and you would like to see some more details, then have a look at the more detailed review through the link below.

Best TOTO Toilet Model – Buyer’s Guide

TOTO toilets produce quality units that not only have a powerful flush, but also use the least amount of water necessary, making them eco-friendly and economically beneficial.

All of TOTO toilet models are highly innovative, efficient and top-of-the-line, making them one of the most popular toilet brands on the market.  However, you have to consider some factors before buying any TOTO toilets.

Size

What is the size of your bathroom.  If you have a small bathroom, then a more compact toilet will be more suitable.  Also, a round bowl toilet is a little bit shorter in length compared to an elongated toilet.

Height

People come in all shapes and sizes and not every toilet is a standard size.  A standard height toilet may be ideal for short people and children, however it is not ideal for taller individuals.  Fortunately, TOTO toilets have developed Universal Height toilets that are around 2″ taller than a standard toilet.

Universal Height toilets are not only great for taller people but they are also ADA Compliant.  ADA Compliant toilets are suitable for a wider range of people, especially the elderly, disabled and people recovering from surgery.

Water Usage

An old standard toilet used to use 3.5 Gallons of water per flush.  Most modern toilets now use a maximum of 1.6 GPF, however a 1.6 GPF is still not WaterSense certified.  A WaterSense Certified toilet has to use less than 1.6 GPF and in some states you can get a water rebate if you have a WaterSense approved toilet.

Some of the toilets reviewed in this article use 20% less water per flush at 1.28 GPF.  Some toilets are also dual flush toilets, that have a half-flush and a full-flush.  The Neorest toilet above uses as little as 0.8 GPF per half-flush and 1.0 GPF per full-flush.  These are real water savings.

One or Two-piece

Of course, most standard toilets are two-piece toilets.  Two-piece toilets are cheaper, easier to install but harder to maintain.  Bacteria and mold may develop between the tank and the bowl.

A one-piece toilet is easier to wipe and clean, however they are more expensive, heavier, meaning they will be a little harder to install.

Budget

A toilet can cost anything from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand.  The cheapest models will be standard two-piece toilets and the most expensive will be luxury, smart toilets.

The price of your toilet will depend on your budget, what type of toilet you want for your bathroom and how much luxury you want.

Final Thoughts on the Best TOTO Toilets

We all aim to have a clean, presentable and easy to maintain bathroom, but this can only be achieved by first finding the perfect toilet.  TOTO toilets are one of the best brands to start with when searching for that perfect toilet.

TOTO toilets offer you a great range of models to choose from and we hope that this article on the Best TOTO Toilets helped you to choose the perfect one for your bathroom.
